Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center (EMMC) and Downtown Bangor Partnership (DBP) return for a second year to ask, “How are You?” under the Umbrella Sky installation on Cross Street in downtown Bangor.
EMMC and the DBP continue their partnership in bringing the community the Umbrella Sky Project, a spectacular, experiential art installation.
The Umbrella Sky installation runs from mid May to mid October on Cross Street in downtown Bangor and this year EMMC and DBP are bringing you an expanded umbrella canopy along with additional whimsical touches like upside down umbrella benches and flower planters.
Come check it out, snap pics of this awesome display, and post to your socials with the hashtags #HowAreYouBangor and #UmbrellaSky.
For the best pictures of the year, join EMMC and the Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce for Night Under the Umbrella Sky on Tuesday, July 16 when we will close the street to traffic. Bring your family and friends to view this awesome spectacle, sponsored byEMMC. With music, games, giveaways, and lots and lots of umbrellas, it’s fun for all ages.
About the Umbrella Sky Project
With over 170 installations worldwide, The Umbrella Sky Project began in 2011 as a part of the city of Águeda, Portugal’s annual Ágitagueda Art Festival. “The motto is to color life, bring color to the gray spaces of the city and make the ones who pass by smile,” according to promotional material from Impactplan, the creative agency behind the umbrellas. “A simple idea that brings life and protection to public spaces and at the same time transports us to a fantasy world.”
