Downtown Bangor is for everybody, whether you’re 1 or 100. There are ample opportunities for the littlest folks to the grownups that are with them to have fun all year long! Downtown Bangor’s beautiful community gardens, grassy parks, interesting architecture, and beautiful public art make it a wonderful place for families to enjoy unstructured time together.
Downtown Bangor has plenty of family-friendly places to shop, including a beloved independent bookstore, a toy store, bakeries, arcades, and many retail locations have goods that delight the child in all of us! In addition, the Bangor YMCA, Maine Discovery Museum, and Bangor Public Library are wonderful stops for the entire family.
Maine Discovery Museum
This downtown institution has for more than two decades offered three floors of activities for learners and their grownups. With exhibits on everything from science and nature to music and literature, there’s hand-on fun to be had for the whole family.

Stay healthy, meet friends, learn and have fun: that’s what you can do at the Bangor Y. Swimming, working out, classes, children’s programming and much more happen every day at this venerable Bangor institution.
