ABOUT ADOPT-A-GARDEN
Downtown Bangor comes together every May for a spring cleanup followed a couple weeks later by the annual Big Dig Week, when the 150 gardens of Downtown are planted by a fleet of volunteer community members and businesses.
Since 2014 Downtown Bangor has played host to hundreds of adopt-a-gardeners transforming parks, tree pits and hardscapes into 150 micro oases, reflective of the distinctive personalities and perspectives of Greater Bangor’s individuals, businesses and organizations.
The Adopt-A-Garden program, which started with 40 plots, has gained momentum over the years, becoming a symbol of community spirit and a visual representation of the notion that downtown belongs to everybody.
