ABOUT ADOPT-A-GARDEN

Join Downtown Bangor on MAY 3, for Spring Cleanup at 9 a.m. and then come downtown for the annual Big Dig on May 17th starting at 9 a.m.

Since 2014 Downtown Bangor has played host to hundreds of adopt-a-gardeners transforming parks, tree pits and hardscapes into 150 micro oases, reflective of the distinctive personalities and perspectives of Greater Bangor’s individuals, businesses and organizations.

The Adopt-A-Garden program, which started with 40 plots, has gained momentum over the years, becoming a symbol of community spirit and a visual representation of the notion that downtown belongs to everybody.

ABOUT THE BIG DIG

The Big Dig is the day Adopt-A-Garden adopters, volunteers, passers-by, friends, and neighbors are invited to come downtown and help make our city bloom by helping to plant over 140 different gardens. Whether you have adopted a garden or just want to lend a hand for the day, you are welcome. We have something for all ages and skill levels.
