Drawing from yoga philosophy, this workshop explores the ways in which depression manifests in our minds, bodies, and emotions—impacting our mood. We will explore different kinds of depression (including anxiety) and the differences between Western and Eastern understandings of depression, so that each of us can better understand how we are impacted by depression. We will find balance as we process our emotions through movement. We will learn techniques for treating our unique combination of depressive symptoms through yoga, breath, and somatic movement. Practical tools will be offered as a take-away for consistent practice of this movement medicine.
