Bangor Public Library is partnering with Orono Public Library and the Maine Library Association to bring a private, pre-release screening of the new documentary, Banned Together: The Fight Against Censorship to the Bangor area. The film will be screened at the Orono Peforming Arts Center at Orono High School. Tickets are FREE and can be reserved here.

Banned Together follows three young women during their senior year of high school as they fight hostile community members and school board officials to reinstate these banned books. We witness their evolution from local to national activists as they advocate at school board meetings, sit down with national politicians, famous authors and constitutional scholars, and ultimately, speak on stage at the Right to Read Rally during the American Library Association’s annual conference in Chicago.

The Orono Performing Arts Center is located at 14 Goodridge Dr, Orono, ME 04473 and ample free parking is available near the entrance. The OPAC entrance is located on the backside of the high school between the school and the sports fields.
