What: 3rd Annual Urban Garden Tour
Where: Multiple locations around Bangor / Brewer
When: August 2nd, 2025 (Heavy Rain Date: August 3rd)
Why: Food AND Medicine is helping organize a tour of Bangor and Brewer’s urban gardens to showcase the breadth of what can be grown in urban spaces and to inspire both first time and long time gardeners to grow some of their own food as well as beautify their neighborhoods.

Details:

All are invited to the third annual Urban Garden Tour in Bangor and Brewer on Saturday, August 2nd, 2025, with thirteen in-town gardens available to tour on that day. The tour is free and all Bangor/Brewer residents, as well as others in the area, are invited to view as many gardens as they want. The Tour is to encourage everyone to “grow your own,” no matter how much or little land they have available to garden with. Garden seeds and growing information will be available free to all participants. In case of rain, the tour will take place on Sunday, August 3rd, with the same schedule.

Six gardens, including vegetables, fruits, herbs and/or flowers, within the city limits of Bangor and Brewer, can be toured in the morning, 9 AM-noon, and seven more will welcome visitors in the afternoon, 1-4 PM. Gardeners will be available to answer questions and offer support and resources to newer gardeners. A 30-minute workshop (topic to be announced) will take place at Abraham Lincoln School at 11:30 that morning, and another on “greenhouse production” that afternoon at 3:30 PM at the Food AND Medicine office and greenhouse at 20 Ivers St. in Brewer. Please, no pets in the gardens.
