Celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence with an up-close view of the William J. Stone copy of the Declaration of Independence. This exhibit will be a rare opportunity to see what is called the “official copy” of the Declaration. Commissioned in 1820, it took William Stone three years to produce the copperplate for this lithograph. The Bangor Historical Society will display its seldom-displayed Stone copy of the Declaration on the 4th of July in downtown Bangor.
