On Wednesday, April 30th, at 4pm Bangor Historical Society will be offering a free walking tour discussing the Fire of 1911. This tour has a limited capacity. To secure a spot please email curator@bangorhistoricalsociety.org.
In April, 1911, a spark in a riverside hay shed ignited a fire that devastated much of Bangor’s downtown and threatened many of her neighborhoods. Join us as we follow the flames’ path and learn which structures survived and how Bangor and her people recovered from the devastation.
We will walk the path of the fire from its start(the park across from193 Broad Street) into downtown. We will look at pictures from before, during, and after the fire to see how this event shaped downtown into how we know it today.
This tour has a limited capacity. To secure a spot please email curator@bangorhistoricalsociety.org.
The tour starts at 4pm on Wednesday, April 30th, in the park across from 193 Broad Street
