SUMMARY:Technology Workshop: Master Your Passwords
DESCRIPTION:Do you struggle to remember your passwords? Or maybe you re-
use the same one over and over\, even though you know you shouldn't? Thi
s hands-on\, 3-session workshop will walk you through creating a passwor
d plan that works for you and then implementing it to improve your secur
ity. Classes will be from 3:00-4:00 PM on Saturdays October 18\, Novembe
r 1\, and November 15. Attendees should plan to join all three sessions.
\n\n\n\nPasswords are the lock on the door that keeps others out of your
accounts - a vital security measure to avoid fraud and scams\, and keep
your personal information private. But using good "password hygiene" is
hard when there are so many to remember! In this series of three sessio
ns\, you'll learn about your options for responsibly managing your passw
ords in a way that doesn't drive you crazy\, and get support in putting
 your password plan into practice.\n\n\n\nSession 1 (Saturday\, October 1
8\, 3-4 PM): A presentation on why passwords are important for security\
, and how to construct a good strong password\, followed by exercises to
see if you have accounts that have been compromised in a data breach an
d how good the passwords you've been using really are. By the end of thi
s session\, participants will have developed a "Password Plan" - whether
that is using a secure digital password manager\, or keeping a paper li
 st of passwords.\n\n\n\nSession 2 (Saturday\, November 1\, 3-4 PM): Part
icipants will work to build out the infrastructure to implement their pa
ssword plan. This might include installing a password manager onto their
devices\, or making a list of accounts with passwords to update and wri
te down. By the end of this session\, the pieces will be in place to sta
rt using better passwords going forward.\n\n\n\nSession 3 (Saturday\, No
vember 15\, 3-4 PM): A working session where attendees will go through a
nd update passwords for different accounts to more secure\, unique passw
ords\, recording the new passwords in either their password manager or n
otebook. By the end of this session\, participants should have practiced
updating and saving passwords enough to continue the process on their o
wn for any remaining accounts.\n\n\n\nThis workshop series is free of ch
arge\, but space is limited\, so registration is required to attend. To
be successful in this class\, participants must bring their own devices
that they use to access accounts requiring passwords.\n\n\n\nRegister us
