SUMMARY:Summer Music Series - The Bangor Band

 and is one of the oldest continuous community bands in the United States
 . We have performed at various venues throughout the greater Bangor area
  every summer since our first season in 1859.\n\n\n\nPhilip Edelman will
  be conducting.\n\n\n\nEstablished in 1859\, The Bangor Band is one of t
 he oldest continuous community bands in the United States. Our rich hist
 ory includes two tours of duty during the Civil War: first in 1861 as th
 e Second Maine Infantry Band\, being mustered out in 1862\, and then as 
 the 14th Maine Regimental Band from 1865 until the war’s end.\n\n\n\nT
 he Bangor Band’s busy 19th-century venue included playing at political
  rallies\, torchlight processions\, picnics\, lawn parties\, steamboat e
 xcursions\, quadrilles\, and the ever-popular summer concert series.\n\n
 \n\nThis year\, the Band celebrates its 166th birthday. Under the direct
 ion of Dr. Philip Edelman\, we continue the yearly tradition of summer c
 oncerts at 7:00 on Tuesday nights in various parks around the Bangor are
 a. We also serve the Bangor community by participating in parades on Mem
 orial Day and July 4th\, performing concerts at the Bangor Public Librar
 y and the annual Chapin Park Block Party\, as well as at Cole Land Trans
 portation Museum on Veterans’ Day.\n\n\n\nWith a repertoire of marches
 \, light overtures\, and Broadway selections\, we complete our busy sche
 dule with indoor performances in November with our Harvest Concert\, at 
 Christmas\, and in the spring with our annual Members Memorial Concert.\
