SUMMARY:Solar Eclipse Viewing Party
DESCRIPTION:On Monday\, April 8\, 2024 a total eclipse of the sun will o
 ccur in the Northern Hemisphere and Northern Maine is on the “path of 
 totality” when the moon completely blocks the sun and we experience a 
 brief moment of darkness on earth. Bangor is not on the path of totality
 \, but will experience a 99% eclipse. The maximum totality in Bangor wil
 l be at 3:32pm and will be a very deep partial eclipse\, with some amoun
 t of sky darkening. \n\nIf you're not headed to the path of totality\, j
 oin library staff on the Atrium patio at 3pm as we prepare the countdown
  to maximum eclipse at 3:32pm. We'll have indirect methods including pin
 hole projectors and colanders. Please note that the library has a limite
 d number of eclipse glasses to distribute in advance of the eclipse (2 p
 er household\, available at the Reference Desk on the second floor)\, bu
 t will not have glasses to give away at this event.
