 s popular Grateful Dead tribute act\, bring their act to BAE for a Bango
 r\, Maine debut performance.\n\nDown East Dead was originally formed as 
 a way for some local midcoast friends to get together during the days of
  Covid\, when live music as we knew it came crashing to a halt.\n\nBassi
 st James Taylor (of Boston rock improv explorers\, Skyfoot) put the call
  out on social media and guitarist Rodney Sturdee (of Maine's pioneer Gr
 ateful Dead tribute band\, Lazy Lightning) quickly answered the request.
  Before they knew it\, the addition of keyboardist Jeff Merrow (also of 
 Lazy Lightning) and drummer Ryan Benoit (of Hambone and Coyote Island) h
 ad completed the initial lineup of D.E.D.\n\nOnce live music re-emerged\
 , the band hit the scene and quickly garnered recognition from heads all
  across the state of Maine as one of the newest and and authentic tribut
 es to the music of the Grateful Dead in the area.\nOther guitarists Aaro
 n Nadeau\, Jeff Irish\, and Doug Emery have been featured since D.E.D.'s
  original conception\, and in 2023\, the band welcomed Cam King (of Mert
 her) as the newest 2nd guitarist.\n\nDown East Dead attributes their sou
 nd to the Brent Mydland years of the Dead with whole-hearted energy\, lo
 ve\, and enthusiasm. But it doesn't stop there. D.E.D. often ventures in
 to the territories of the Allman Brothers Band\, Santana\, The Band\, Ro
 lling Stones\, Phish and more. Don't be surprised to even hear an origin
 al song intertwined within their sets\, as the music and creativity neve
