SUMMARY:Collaborative Community Art Project: Paint a Square for Our Mura
 l
DESCRIPTION:In celebration of the United States’ Semiquincentennial in
  2026\, Bangor Public Library is creating a large-scale American flag* m
 ural compiled from 325 individual squares that together form a vibrant v
 ersion of the American flag\, a symbol of unity\, shared purpose\, hope\
 , and love for our country.\n\nJoin us to participate in a hands-on work
 shop in the Crofutt Community room. At this workshop\, you may complete 
 one or more squares for the flag. The library will provide materials** i
 ncluding canvas squares\, collage materials\, paint\, brushes\, glue\, a
 nd stamps.\n\nThe canvas squares will have an assigned color theme writt
 en on the back: red\, white\, or blue\, and we ask that individuals coll
 age\, paint\, draw\, sew\, sculpt\, stamp\, or write on their square in 
 the majority of that color tone.\n\nCompleted squares will be arranged i
 nto the American flag to be displayed in the Cyr Gallery during the libr
 ary’s 250th celebration\, June through July.\n\nArtist Stephanie Krimm
 el and Mrs. Maynard's Art Room blog inspired our project\, and we look f
 orward to sharing our version with the community this summer.\n\nAny squ
 ares left unfinished on March 14 will be available the following week as
  a “Take and Make” craft (paint not included) that must be returned 
 to the reference desk by April 3 to be sewn into the larger flag. To ens
 ure a proper distribution of red\, white\, and blue squares\, the librar
 y cannot guarantee that every square will be included in the final piece
 .\n\n*Current design of 50 stars and 13 bars\n\n**As noted\, you do not 
 need to bring your own supplies. However\, if you have supplies you'd li
 ke to use to create a square\, feel free to bring them along.
