SABRA RAVENSCRAFT: MCDADE GALLERY – IMAGES FROM  COLORFUL MIND
About: Sabra is a graduate of Hampden Academy and has attended Amicus for several years.  She enjoys art the most of anything and loves to paint nature scenes and various icons that interest her.  She is so proud and excited to have her own exhibit at BPL !!

DOWNEAST ARTISTS GUILD: WORKS BY VARIOUS MEMBERS
About: Downeast Artists Guild is a group of women who gather each week to paint and explore their interpretations of the world we see or imagine. The show will be representative work of each artist. All media are included: watercolor, pastel, oil, acyclic, gouache, and pencil.

MICHAEL MESKIS: STATE OF MAINE IN INFARED
About: I am a former Chicago native (professional commercial photographer) making Maine my home for the past decade. Most of my work is with infrared photography and in the fall I usually switch to color. I like to think most of my work is from the perspective of trees and nature. I combine multiple subjects and create a new perspective on the way nature lives together in harmony.

JENN MORRIS: SHOOK: CLARITY AND CHAOS IN COLOR
About: Increasingly, I find that the only way to organize the chaos in the world, as well as in my head, is to put layer upon layer of color onto canvas. The combinations I create in order to process the chaos do not always make sense, and some turn out to be downright ugly, but eventually an order forms on the canvas. These layers blend into a whole that expresses a feeling about a distinct moment in time. In this way, a moment, however disorderly, becomes structured, organized, and permanent in my work.

KAY CARTER: BARN-INTERIOR SPACES
About: Maine has a plethora of large, grand old barns.  Some continue in their original use, some have been repurposed from their origins, and some languish/deteriorate in our changing economy.  In my artwork, I have been interested in exploring barn interiors, their spaces of light and darkness, their structures and patterns, the workmanship which brought them into being, and the tools used. This is a personal and community metaphor.  The paintings in the series pay homage to our state’s agrarian history.  They also pay homage to food, a fundamental of life, to the people who work(ed) the farms, and to the earth which sustains us.
